What a robot vacuum actually costs to keep running

The sticker price is the part everybody compares. What decides whether a robot vacuum feels cheap or expensive is what you spend on dust bags, mop pads and filters afterwards — and only some models need those at all. Every figure below was read off the manufacturer's own Australian storefront on 4 October 2026 and links to the page it came from.

A model without a dock has almost nothing to spend on

A robot with a manual bin and a washable mop pad has no consumables to buy. You empty a bin, rinse a pad under a tap, and that is the whole list. If your budget is genuinely tight this is the cheapest robot to keep, and no accessory pricing changes that.

The ECOVACS DEEBOT N20 PLUS is the example in this catalogue: ECOVACS Australia describes a bagless dust path marketed as “No Bag Design” with washable mop pads included.

Once there is a dock, there is a parts list

A self-emptying dock empties into a dust bag. It washes pads in water. Both consume something, so every dock in this catalogue adds at least a bag and a filter to the list of things you buy again.

What Dreame lists

Dreame sells one accessories kit per model rather than loose parts. Prices are in Australian dollars, read from the Dreame Australia storefront on 4 October 2026.

Reading the numbers honestly

Most of those ECOVACS prices are promotional. The site shows both because the full price is the one that recurs, and because a discount that ends silently is not a number you can plan a year of spending around.

A bundle is also not the same as a single replacement. The Matrix10 Ultra kit at A$299.95 is one kit covering that model's parts, so it cannot be compared against a single bag without knowing what is inside. Dreame and ECOVACS do not publish a per-part price on the listing pages, so this site does not invent one.

Note also that Dreame's and ECOVACS's kits are model-specific and not interchangeable. A kit for one robot does not fit another, which is why the table lists what each one fits rather than a generic price band.

How the two decisions connect

Whether you care about this at all depends entirely on whether you wanted a dock. The maintenance page covers which jobs a dock takes off your hands and which ones it leaves alone. The short version: without a dock your running cost is close to zero; with one you are buying parts on a schedule forever, and the manufacturer's own accessories page is the honest place to read the number.

These are the manufacturers' listed prices, not measured consumption rates. Nobody publishes how long one bag or one pad lasts in a particular home, so this page does not estimate a yearly total. What you can do is read what each kit covers and work out your own cadence from it.
